Your Smooth Road to Trademark Registration in Saudi Arabia
Whether or not you hold a commercial registration, protecting your trademark in Saudi Arabia is straightforward and accessible. Once registered, your trademark will be protected for 10 years, renewable upon expiry.

π What Can Be Registered?
You may register:
- A word mark
- A logo
- Or a combined mark (word + logo)
Your trademark must be filed under the appropriate class that matches your business activity, in accordance with the Nice Classification system adopted by the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).
π Trademark Registration Process: Three Key Phases
- Application Phase
Your application is submitted to SAIP for examination. During this phase, the authority will:
- Check for similarity with existing trademarks
- Ensure compliance with Saudi trademark laws and GCC Trademark Law
- Verify that the mark is distinctive, non-deceptive, and not contrary to public order or Islamic principles
If accepted, the application proceeds to the next phase.
- Publication Phase
The accepted trademark is published in the official gazette for 60 days. During this period:
- Third parties may file oppositions
- If no opposition is filed, or if resolved in your favor, the process continues
- Registration Phase
Upon successful completion of the publication period, SAIP issues the Trademark Registration Certificate, granting you exclusive rights to use the mark in Saudi Arabia.
